Nuisance RCD tripping usually has a cause you can narrow down in ten minutes. Here is the method Sydney electricians use.
An RCD trips for a reason
A safety switch detects current leaking to earth. When it trips, current is escaping somewhere it should not — through moisture, damaged insulation, or a failing appliance element.
It is not a nuisance device. Repeatedly resetting it without finding the cause is the electrical equivalent of taping over a warning light.
Narrowing it down yourself
Unplug everything on the affected circuit, then reset. If it holds, plug appliances back in one at a time, waiting a minute between each. The one that trips it is your culprit — kettles, toasters, fridges, washing machines and hot water elements are the usual suspects.
If the RCD trips with nothing plugged in, the fault is in the fixed wiring and needs a licensed electrician with insulation resistance testing equipment.
The weather clue
If tripping only happens after rain, water is almost certainly tracking into an outdoor outlet, light fitting or a degraded section of underground cable. That is a fixable fault, but it will only get worse.
