Call us immediately if you notice

Warning signs that should never wait until morning

Burning smell or smoke

A hot plastic smell near a switchboard, outlet or light fitting means something is arcing.

Sparking outlets or switches

Visible sparks or scorch marks indicate a loose or failing connection — a genuine fire risk.

Electric shock from an appliance

Even a small tingle means current is escaping to earth. Stop using it and call us.

Safety switch won't reset

An RCD that refuses to hold is detecting a real fault on the circuit.

Complete loss of power

If neighbours have power and you don't, the fault is on your side of the meter.

Storm or water damage

Water and electricity in the same cavity needs isolating and testing before use.

Before we arrive

What to do while an electrician is on the way

A few simple steps keep everyone safe and often speed up the repair.

  1. 1If there is fire or smoke you cannot locate, leave the building and call 000 first.
  2. 2If it is safe to do so, switch off the main switch at your switchboard.
  3. 3Unplug appliances on the affected circuit, and do not keep resetting a tripping breaker.
  4. 4Keep everyone well clear of any fallen powerline and call Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
  5. 5Note what happened just before the fault — it helps us diagnose faster.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Burning smells, smoke, sparking outlets or switchboards, exposed or damaged wiring, electric shocks, a total loss of power, or a safety switch that will not stay reset. If in doubt, call us — advice over the phone is free.

How fast can you get to me?

We keep vans across the Sydney basin and prioritise emergencies, so we aim to be on site as quickly as it is safe to travel. When you call we will give you a realistic arrival time, not an optimistic one.

Do you charge more after hours?

After-hours attendance is priced differently to standard business hours, but we tell you the rate before we dispatch. You will never receive a bill you were not warned about.

Should I turn the power off myself?

If you can safely reach your switchboard, turning off the main switch is usually the right first step. If there is smoke or fire, leave the building and call 000 first, then call us.
